EACH ANIMAL THAT HAS BEEN RESCUED HAS A STORY TO TELL
THIS IS LUKE’S STORY

IT TOOK A SMALL LOVING ARMY TO GET LUKE TO HIS FOREVER HOME
HE IS NOW HOME STARTING LIFE ALL OVER AS A PUPPY

Luke was found on the island of St. Martin severely malnourished, wrapped in heavy chains and scars on his body.  Paula d’Andrea found Luke and when she saw his big brown eyes she immediately took him into her care. Each day she would along with loving him, walk him and cook him beef patties. It didn’t take long for Luke to trust and feel loved for the first time in his life!!!

Luke then went to a foster home on St. Martin where he received more TLC from his caregiver Nick.  Luke was treated for tick fever and heartworm while at his foster home.  Luke is super healthy and ready to live a rich full life.

Through a chain of pleas for the perfect home The Animal Rescue League was able to connect Luke with his new family.

It took a small army of people who loved Luke to get him to his new home in Chicago. Luke was escorted on a plane from St. Martin to Minnesota. At that same time Mark Lesperance, who knew and loved Luke, got on a plane from Michigan to pick Luke up at the airport. Mark rented a car and cuddled with Luke that night in a hotel. The next day they were up early and on their way to Chicago. The same morning Lori Lesperance got in a car and drove from Michigan to Chicago to help connect Luke with his new family. It was an instant hit and a dream match for Luke.

Luke now lives in Chicago, Illinois with Mac and Susan McCreary and his canine brother, Demo.  Demo is an 11 year old 95 pound Golden Retriever. Demo and Luke are now best buddies.  Demo and Luke go to the dog park, share toys and play like brothers. Demo is a perfect big brother for Luke, fun, gentle yet not a push over. Both boys love to ride in Mac’s big red truck. Luke likes to ride in the front seat while Demo prefers the back seat. Susan and Mac make Luke wear a seat belt and harness while riding in the truck, something he doesn’t care for but it shows the deep commitment and love they have for Luke. Luke and Demo both sleep in Mac and Susan’s bedroom at night with Luke on his cozy dog bed on the floor on Mac’s side of the bed. During the night Luke will reach up and kiss Mac’s hand. Demo and Luke are showered with love, treats, walks, rides in the car.....  everything a dog could ever ask for in life and more!

All things in life are new to Luke. Susan and Mac will guide him through his new adventure of a trusted and loved life with patience and kindness. Luke is scheduled for classes, play dates and is one of the luckiest dogs ever!!!
